About this event

Event info

Calling all Gypsy Jazz fans! Lichfield favourites, award-winning musicians Fret and Fiddle will hit The Hub on 21 November.

Sit back and relax to the beautiful ballads of ‘Stardust’ and ‘My Funny Valentine’. Tap your toes to Cole Porter’s ‘Anything Goes’ and be transported back to those Charleston days and the razzle-dazzle of that swinging fiddle! Come and hear old hits like ‘I Can’t Give you Anything but Love’ and prepare to be dazzled by Andy’s Greek bouzouki playing! This versatile and entertaining group even throw in a few refreshingly individual songs by the likes of Tom Waits and Leonard Cohen, making certain that there is something in every show to delight everyone in the audience.

Fret and Fiddle are an award-winning group who formed in 2001 when the co-founders of the group, professional violinist Sally Minchin and guitarist Andy Bole discovered they had a mutual enthusiasm for The Hot Club de France and musical legends guitarist Django Reinhardt and violinist Stephane Grappelli. Sally says: ‘Grappelli had that certain mysterious magic in his playing that many great musicians have, but is so elusive and challenging to capture and contain’.

Now a five-piece band, Fret and Fiddle have just released their new album ‘J’Attendrai’ which has been making waves locally and nationally and their track ‘Pennies from Heaven’ has already been played as part of BBC Introducing on local BBC radio.
