Dance workshop with something for all the family
Day of Dance has something for all the family with workshops and a Finale Showcase featuring live dance and a short dance film. Led by professional Dancer Molly Wright.
Day of Dance: Inclusive Workshop with Lauren. 10am - 10.45am
Lauren Russell is a Midlands-based freelance dance artist, performer, and producer specialising in inclusive dance practice. A former primary school teacher with a background in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), she transitioned to the arts to champion accessibility and diversity. She performs with Propel, the UK’s only professional all-wheelchair dance company, and teaches inclusive dance sessions for Sense, ID Dance and Sidekick. Day of Dance: Happy Human Collective Yoga. 11.15am & 12.15pm
Join us for a fun and engaging yoga experience designed just for children. Happy Human Collective’s workshops offer a wonderful opportunity for parents and children to bond while making new friends, exploring yoga, and enjoying songs, movement, and play. Younger children ages 3-7 can immerse themselves in story-based sessions that bring yoga poses to life through imagination and creativity. For children ages 8-11, our classes provide a safe space to express themselves, build confidence, and have fun while following exciting and dynamic stories. Let your little ones discover the magic of yoga in a playful and welcoming environment.
11.15am – 12pm – Session for ages 3-7yrs 12.15pm – 1pm – Session for ages 8-11yrs
Tickets £5.00 per child. Please note: Children must be accompanied by a grown-up (grown-ups do not require a ticket and can choose to either join in or watch).
Day of Dance: Move with Molly 1.45pm – 2.30pm
No experience needed, open to all ages and abilities! Molly’s intergenerational dance workshop is aimed to bring families and members of the community together, to move to music and celebrate the impact that dance can have on our physical health and mental wellbeing!
Molly Wright is a community Dance Artist and Choreographer specialising in dance for older adults. After graduating from Trinity Laban in 2008, Molly established her London based over 60’s performing company, Damn Fine Dance, who have performed across the UK. Molly has created and hosted many community dance events and festivals across the UK, and has a passion for bringing communities together. Her most recent work is a intergenerational dance film, The Time Between Us, funded by The Arts Council in 2024. Tickets £3.00.
Day of Dance: Finale Showcase 5.30pm
The Lichfield Day of Dance ends with an exciting showcase of film and live performances. This is an over 60’s dance platform aiming to shine a light on this generation and prove that dance is for everyone! Please come and join us for a fun and vibrant evening! Featuring: ThirdBite Dance (Sheffield), DamnFineDance (London), Dance Hub Co (Lichfield), Out of Whack ( Coventry), Film by Dance Artist – Lauren Russell. Tickets £5 adults / £3 children
