About this event

Event info

‘The Roaring Twenties – It was an age of miracles, it was an age of art, it was an age of excess’

Award-winning chanteuse, Christine Bovill, returns to The Hub with ‘Speakeasy’.

With her heart-melting, smoky, evocative voice, Christine cherry-picks some of the most celebrated songs and engrossing stories from the Jazz Age: the era of Prohibition, women's suffrage, radio, flappers, vamps, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Dorothy Parker, Charlie Chaplin, Charles Lindbergh and Bessie Smith. A decade of heroes and villains; of sex scandals; literary giants and criminal low lives – all beautifully bound in the seductive rhythms of jazz.
