Picture this. You’ve just got engaged and you’ve hired a photographer for an engagement photoshoot. You’ve both picked the outfits. You’ve practiced your poses. You’re ready. You just need the perfect location. In Lichfield District you’re spoiled for choice of picturesque photo backdrops.
So, whether you’re looking for somewhere to take engagement or wedding snaps (after getting married one of the amazing local spots), planning a maternity photoshoot or just want a great place to capture a picture of everyone at the next family reunion, find some location inspiration below.
City centre parks
Lichfield city centre itself is a gorgeous part of the world and is home to Lichfield Cathedral, the only medieval cathedral in the UK with three spires. Wherever you go in the city you can feature the spires in the backdrop of your photos, and some of the best spots can be found in our open park spaces.
In Beacon Park for instance, you have more than 70 acres of beautiful gardens and open space to set up in. You can pose near the fountain and flower beds in Memorial Gardens, make the most of the growing Peace Woodland or take snaps in the Herbaceous Garden which features the Martyr’s Plaque.
If you’d rather have a water feature, then Minster Pool or Stowe pool are for you. Both are a short walk from Beacon Park and you can get the cathedral’s spires in the background from both spots.
Fradley Junction and Nature Reserve
There are over 150 miles of canal in Staffordshire, and one of the most beautiful spots along those waters can be found at Fradley Junction. You can choose to have a backdrop of the canal with boats either moored or drifting by or you can venture into the nature reserve.
The pool in the nature reserve, the floating bird island and the flora and fauna all around provide a lovely setting to capture your perfect pictures.
Chasewater Country Park
Chasewater Country Park has a stunning 90 hectare reservoir and plenty of green open space to pose in. There are several different landscapes you can choose from, with several walking routes through different nature ecosystems. You might even spot some deer to include in the background of your shots.
You can also enjoy watersports at Chasewater, so if you’re looking for action shots this is a good place to explore photography options.
