As part of its ongoing Artist Development programme, The Hub is delighted to introduce Let Me In as an Associate Company. At the heart of The Hub is a desire to support local artists and companies who are striving to push boundaries within their work. The Hub tries to address the barriers these emerging companies face and provide them with the space to research and develop, in order to reach the next level in their creative journey.
Let Me In is a Lichfield based arts collective with a focus on creating accessible theatre for everyone, regardless of who they are or where they are from, ensuring their work is available on a "pay what you can" basis, as well as being accessible to all areas of diversity; physical and cognitive. The team have all experienced very different lives and stories up to now and they have come together through a common love for art and the therapeutic and expressive qualities it has.
The Hub has designed a robust package to support our chosen associate company designed around the needs of a fledgling arts company. Let Me In will receive a grant for making new work, free access to rehearsal space, mentorship from the Creative Director, organisational development support, hot-desking and priority booking for our events calendar.
A spokesperson for Let Me In said: "We are incredibly grateful and humbled to be an Associate Company of The Hub – we have formed a very close bond with the building and the people behind its rise as an exciting and brave UK venue. We believe it is essential to explore, create and experience art, and we are looking forward to bringing our work to The Hub for anyone and everyone who wants to see it – with zero discrimination. We cannot wait to work closer than ever with Anthony and the team as we continue to build on the ideas and themes we are so passionate about."
Hub Creative Director, Anthony Evans, said: "The Hub wants to support grass roots companies and artists through the pandemic to ensure Lichfield’s creative community bounces back stronger. Audiences, performers and venues are all in this together and we need to support each other. The Hub has developed local dance and theatre networks in addition to a series of commissions for Staffs based artists. The support we are now able to offer Let Me In as an Associate Company will hopefully take some of the financial weight from these talented emerging artists and allow them to do what they do best – create!"
The Hub is still welcoming submissions from Staffordshire artists for its four Micro-Commissions. The £500 Micro-Commissions are available for visual art, performance and community arts projects. The closing date is Friday 30th April. All details are on its website thehubstmarys.co.uk.
