Music & Theatre Sunday Jazz: Local Home-Grown Jazz

About this event

Event info

The same brilliant local jazz musicians you’ve seen at the Hub before, but this time playing all their own tunes!

For April’s Sunday Jazz Gig, Trumpeter & Guitarist Nick Dewhurst will be leading his trio through a new theme for The Hub at St Mary’s, ‘Local Home-Grown Jazz!’ It sounds like something you might get from the Market Square, which is very appropriate given that The Hub is right next to it, as Nick, joined by Tim Amann on Piano and Paul Robinson on Fretless Bass Guitar will be featuring their own compositions.

Nick Dewhurst says: ‘As with every Sunday Jazz gig at The Hub, we enjoy having a theme for the evening. For this gig, we’re venturing into new territory, as we celebrate original jazz! The tunes are written by my regular musicians, Tim Amann (piano), Paul Robinson (bass) and myself. However, there’s plenty of local references too, with some of my tunes written about Lichfield, such as Bird Street Blues. Tim’s tunes reference Birmingham and include ‘K2 Blues’, inspired by a curry house in Moseley! There’ll be plenty of great stories to go along with the music as well.’

Tickets: Tickets for the show, at £15 are available online or pop in and see us at The Hub
