Music & Theatre / Festivals / Arts & Culture Jasdeep Singh Degun sitar

About this event

Event info

Composer, arranger, improviser, consummate soloist and generous collaborator, custodian of tradition and restless innovator, multi-award winning sitarist Jasdeep Singh Degun is an anomaly indeed.

Amid residencies and royal command performances, in venues from the Amphitheatre in Doha to Westminster Abbey, Jasdeep is forging powerful new musical forms. Adding to the well-deserved laurels of recent years, he has recently won the prestigious RPS Instrumental Award 2024, testament to the success of an approach to music-making that is always instinctive, organic and unprejudiced, whether on the operatic stage, in the studio or on the concert platform.

Jasdeep will be joined at the Festival by tabla and jori player Surdarshan Singh (Sunny), who accompanies maestros of international repute across the globe, and is one of the leading accompanists and soloists in the UK.
